GB runner Eilidh Doyle says Tokyo 2020 postponement works in her favour as she's just become a mum

Team GB's Eilidh Doyle says the postponement of the Olympics will actually "work in her favour" as she has recently become a mother.

The 33 year-old, who gave birth to her son Campbell in January, is now preparing for her third Olympic Games next summer.

She told Scottish Athletics: "To be clear, it is an absolutely terrible situation and not a scenario anyone wants to see.

"But I am probably one of only a few athletes who feels the Olympic postponement can work in my favour."

The 2016 bronze Olympic medallist was aiming to seal her spot in the 4x400m team instead of the 400m hurdles for this summer's Games.

She added: "The delay means we can focus on recovery, we don’t need to take risks."
