Goalkeeper Fran Kitching to leave bottom of the WSL Liverpool

Liverpool goalkeeper Fran Kitching is leaving the Women’s Super League side as her contract ends this summer.

The 22 year-old joined Liverpool in 2018 and made 17 appearances for the Reds. She has also played for Chelsea, Watford and Sheffield.

She said: “My experience while at LFC Women has taught me a lot. I’d like to say thanks to the fans for their constant support and to my teammates for always being there for me. I have made some friends for life.”

While Kitching says she’s learned a lot from Liverpool it’s not clear where she’ll be using that experience next season.

Reds boss Vicky Jepson says Kitching was a crucial cog in the Liverpool machine.

“Myself and the backroom staff would like to thank Fran for the two years at our club. During Fran’s time we have seen her step up and make some big saves during important moments in games.

“We would like to wish her the best of luck with the rest of her football career and I’m sure our LFC fans will join me in saying our goodbyes.”

Liverpool were sitting bottom of the table, one point behind Birmingham,  when the league was called off.
