Golfer Charlotte Thomas on aiming for the 2021 Solheim Cup team after being inspired by friends Georgia Hall, Bronte Law and Charley Hull

British golfer Charlotte Thomas says she's aiming for a spot on Europe's team for the Solheim Cup in 2021.

The 26-year-old knows three members of last year's winning Europe team - Charley Hull, Bronte Law and Georgia Hall - and watching their heroics last autumn has inspired her to try for a place on Catriona Matthew's team.

She said: “I’ve known Bronte and Georgia for ages since the amateur days and have got to know Charley a bit this year, too. What they’ve done has made me want to get to the top even more.

"I watched them all in the Solheim and thought ‘I have to do that’,” she told The Telegraph.

In order to be eligible to play in 2021 Thomas needs to go through a qualifying school in Spain next month.

she said: “The Solheim has to be a big aim for me these next few years.

“And someone recently mentioned the Olympics in August. I’m a way off yet, but I should have the attitude that if I can get a win and have a few other great weeks, it might be feasible.

"I’ll get there one day, though. I’ll just keep plugging away and travelling for the opportunities. Just like I always have.”
