England's Meghan MacLaren is joint leader at the Hero Women's India Open after the first round.

MacLaren tied with Australia's Whitney Hillier as both women shot a fiver-under 67.

The 25-year-old carrded eight birdies and three bogeys in an impressive - but early - start, teeing off before 7am.

The double Ladies European Tour winner said: "It's not nice getting up at four o'clock, but it was nice to take advantage of an empty course and really pure greens."

Scotland's Catriona Matthew, who was a part of the team that won the Solheim Cup, opened with a two-under 70.

Top of the leader board:

-5 M MacLaren (England), W Hillier (Australia); -4 M Skarpnord (Norway), L Young (England); -3 L Wessberg (Sweden).
