USA draw back level to leave Solheim Cup all square going into final day's singles

Europe and the USA played out another brilliant day of golf and are level heading into the final day of singles at the Solheim Cup.

In blustery conditions, both teams shared the points in the morning foursomes and the USA, in darkness, won the final match of the day to finish 8-8.

This is the first time the teams are level heading into the singles since 2011, when Europe went onto win 15-13 at Killeen Castle in Ireland.

The wind played a huge role in the morning session at Gleneagles as both teams continued an even battle in the foursomes.

Team USA struck first when Morgan Pressel and Marina Alex won their match 2&1 against Anna Nordqvist and Anne Van Dam and the Korda sisters won easily against Carlota Ciganda and Bronte Law. But matches two and three went to the home team.

Charley Hull and Azahara Munoz won convincingly 4&3 against Danielle Kang and Megan Khang as they went six up through 11 holes. Celine Boutier and Georgia Hall continued their success from yesterday as they won 3&2 over Lizette Salas and Ally McDonald.

After ending the foursomes even, Brittany Altomare and Annie Park handled the conditions very well to bring USA back level overall at 6.5 points each.

Caroline Masson played a stunning 13th hole, which included a 10-foot putt, and that looked to be enough for Europe in the second match, but Marina Alex’s sensational putt on the 16th drew USA level once more.

The ding-dong battle continued as the light faded for the final two matches but Hall and Boutier finished their week as a pairing with a 100% record as they beat McDonald and Angel Yin.

But as has been customary in the past two days, USA were not about to back down and Kang birdied on the second last hole to leave the destination of the Solheim Cup on a knife edge.
