Great Britain women's hockey sail to victory in first leg of Olympic qualifiers

Great Britain women's hockey secured a 3-0 victory in the first leg of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic qualifiers against Chile at Lee Valley.

Forward Izzy Petter opened the scoring, with a solo performance from the halfway line. The 19 year-old dribbled past two Chile defenders in their attacking circle before hitting the back of the net.

Chile tried to get back into the game and picked up the GB players quickly in all areas of the pitch but it did not phase the home side.

Shortly after half time midfielder Hannah Martin sealed the second goal for the reigning Olympic champion side, with a scramble in the circle as Chile's defence made it difficult for GB to score.

In the final quarter Anna Toman snatched the last goal of the game as she fired home the ball from the top of the attacking circle.

During the final minutes Leah Wilkinson was close to topping off her first international debut with a goal but missed as the ball hit the post.

Great Britain women will face Chile again tomorrow at Lee Valley in the second leg of the Olympic qualifier tie.
