Newly-promoted Loughborough Students snatch their first three points in the Investec Women’s Hockey Premier Division

Newly-promoted Loughborough Students produced a comfortable 5-1 victory away to East Grinstead in the Investec Women’s Hockey Premier Division.

Sophie Byrne scored the opening goal in the first half shortly followed by a goal from Chloe Brown for East Grinstead.

The students found themselves back in the game as Lucy Millington scored the second goal from open play. Youngster Izzy Petter became the highest goal scorer for the side, as she scored in the last minutes before half time.

Lizzie Neal and Jen Park got the remaining two goals in the final half of the game, sealing the three points.

Surbiton continued their winning streak and won 3-0 against Beeston at home. Whilst Clifton Robinsons lost 2-1 to Holcombe.

Top of the league Hampstead & Westminster secured a 3-0 win against the University of Birmingham at home.

England’s top goal scorer at the Europeans, Lily Owsley, opened the scoring with Meg Byas and Hayley Turner following behind.

The next set of fixtures takes place on September 28.
