Hayley Turner finishes as leading rider in Shergar Cup standings for record second time

Hayley Turner made yet more history in a glittering career of horse racing as she took the title of leading rider for a second time at the Shergar Cup.

The 36-year-old won two of the six races at Ascot, first on Eddystone Rocks and then with Sapa Inca.

The Shergar Cup is a competition where four teams consisting of three riders attempt to accumulate as many points as they can between them.

However, despite her stellar performance as captain of The Girls team, they had to settle for second place in the overall standings as the Rest of the World took the victory.

Turner is currently in brilliant form after she took Royal Ascot by storm back in June when she became the first woman in 32 years to ride a winner.

Her retirement in 2015 was renounced last year when she returned to racing, a decision which has been rewarded with back-to-back leading rider triumphs.
