History-making jockey Khadijah Mellah to be panellist at Aintree's Grand Women's Summit

History-making jockey Khadijah Mellah has confirmed that she will be part of the panel at this year's Aintree Grand Women's Summit.

The meeting is held on Ladies Day at the festival and is set to bring women in sport and business together.

Mellah, 19, wrote her name in the history books when she won the Magnolia Cup in August last year.

She burst into the limelight when she became the first woman to ride competitively on a British track wearing a hijab.

She said: "I'm delighted The Jockey Club have asked me to be part of the Grand Women's Summit to share my positive story about learning to ride and what it felt like to win the Magnolia Cup last year.

"To be able to support and motivate women of all backgrounds to achieve things that they want to do is a passion of mine and I'm really excited to do this at one of the biggest horse racing festivals."

Also on the panel will be British Taekwondo Olympian and former world champion Sarah Stevenson.

Delia Bushell, the chief executive of The Jockey Club and BBC TV's Dan Walker will also be on the panel.

Ladies Day at Aintree Festival is on April 3.
