Tiger Roll's trainer Gordon Elliott supports decision to cancel the Grand National

Tiger Roll's trainer Gordon Elliott has said he supports the move to cancel the Grand National because of coronavirus.

Tiger Roll was tipped to become the first horse ever to win three Grand Nationals in a row after victory in 2018 and 2019.

The race at Aintree was due to take place on April 4 but has been cancelled to prevent the spread of the virus.

Elliott said: "It is disappointing but everyone has to do what's right to get everything back on track. We're all on the one team, you know," he told BBC Radio.

In the 1970's Red Rum won three Grand Nationals but not consecutively. Elliott added that Tiger Roll will be ready for next year.

"There is every chance of him competing and he hasn't got that many miles on the clock, and we will be training him back for the Grand National again."
