Jamaica netball star Vangelee Williams announces retirement from national team

Sunshine Girl Vangelee Williams has announced her retirement from the Jamaican national team.

The 28 year-old made her debut for Jamaica in 2012 and has since earned more than 50 international caps.

She won bronze at the 2014 and 2018 Commonwealth Games and was part of the team that finished fourth at the 2015 Netball World Cup.

The former captain said: "The curtain has closed on what one would call the biggest and best part of my life. I’ve been blessed to be able to represent my country, Jamaica, over all these years.

"The little girl coming from the country on weekends to try and win a spot in the national program was willing, was motivated, was full of aspirations and big dreams of representing the country at the highest level.

“I am now 28! And Lord knows I’ve made those dreams and aspirations a big reality! I am super proud of all the contributions I’ve made to the programs I’ve been a part of i.e. U16, U21 and the Senior Squad.”
