Lyon and Norway striker Ada Hegerberg has signed a new long-term contract with Nike worth more than 1m euros.

The 24 year-old star parted ways with German brand Puma to land the new deal, according to AFP.

Hegerberg’s representatives claim the ’historic’ deal will run for ’at least’ ten years.

The two-time BBC Women's Footballer of the Year was optimistic ahead of the partnership describing it as a ’massive step’ in her career.

“Nike and I have common goals to elevate women’s sport in the years to come,” she said.

“My performances brought me here, and I sure want to keep writing history with the help of Nike, on and off the field.”

The prolific striker was the first winner of the women's Ballon d'Or in 2018 and her performances on the pitch have helped Lyon to the domestic title for five consecutive seasons.
