Melbourne City make W-League history with fourth title - but in front of empty stadium

Melbourne City Women have made W-League history after they sealed their fourth Championship title last night.

The side edged out reigning champions Sydney FC 1-0 at AAMI Park in front of a near-empty stadium.

Captain Steph Catley charged down the left wing before she fired home the only goal of the game, which proved too powerful for Sydney goalkeeper Aubrey Bledsoe.

The squad which includes six national team players have now completed their entire 14-game season in their W-league campaign without suffering a single defeat.

And during the season they scored 33 goals in total and only conceded five.
