MMA star Leah McCourt to fight at Bellator London in May

Northern Irish MMA fighter Leah McCourt will return to the cage as a part of the Bellator London card on May 16.

She returns after making history in February by becoming the first female to headline a Bellator Europe show in which she beat Judith Ruis by unanimous decision.

And McCourt now makes her way back into the cage in quick fashion as she is set to clash with New Zealand's Janay Harding at the SSE Arena in Wembley.

Speaking about the fight, McCourt said on Twitter: "What’s up London ..the queens coming. My next fight is on the massive Bellator London card at Wembley 16th May.

"My fight will be on the main card live on channel 5, contact me for sponsor opps. LETS GET THAT BREAD #TrailBlazing #IllbringtheFireStormzyYouBringTheStorm."

The bout will feature on the undercard of the main event which sees fellow Northern Ireland MMA fighter James Gallagher square off in a bantamweight match-up against Cal Ellenor.

The fight was initially scheduled for the Bellator Dublin show before Gallagher had to pull out, meaning McCourt's contest became the headline fight on the bill.

Elsewhere on the bill, former England rugby player James Haskell will make his debut in the cage, although an opponent is yet to be announced.
