W Series CEO Catherine Bond Muir says inspirational effect of all-female racing goes 'far beyond the track'

CEO of motorsport's all-female W Series Catherine Bond Muir is confident the series can inspire women beyond the racetrack by providing role models and equal opportunities.

Writing for W Series ahead of International Women's Day, she revealed their long-term goal is to get a female driver into Formula 1 by using stars such as last year's champion Jamie Chadwick.

"I’m sure Jamie alone will inspire dozens of young girls to take up karting," she said. "There is a whole grid of exceptional talent right behind her.

"Their role is to inspire the next generation of young girls to have faith in their own potential and to follow their dreams."

Muir is also of the belief that 'women and men can compete and perform equally, given the same opportunities', hailing this as a core belief of the W series.

"But of course, this belief should be at the centre of every modern business," she added.

"I love the phrase: 'if she can see it, she can be it' as this fully captures my thoughts on the power of role models and how essential they are, if this journey of mine, this journey of ours, or this journey of yours, is to be a success."
