Netball New Zealand considers returning to home venues ahead of ANZ Premiership

The ANZ Premiership could be in a position to host games at home instead of playing in a single venue format, Netball New Zealand’s chief executive has revealed.

The six-team league is set to resume at Auckland’s Netball Centre for a ten-week competition which is due to begin on June 19.

However it may all change after the country moved to Covid-19 Alert Level 1.

Jennie Wyllie said: "We're looking at how we might possibly put some teams back into their own home venues so they can play in front of their own crowds.

“But obviously every option we look at, the viability of it needs to be considered.”

Central Pulse, Mainland Tactix and Southern Steel are already set to take weekly chartered flights to compete in Auckland and the rest will come by car.

But despite a potential decision being made regarding playing on home turf, the first couple of rounds will be played in Auckland.

The league was suspended after one round of action in March due to the coronavirus pandemic.
