Three Welsh internationals join Severn Stars ahead of the Superleague 2020 season

Three Welsh international netball players have signed for Severn Stars in time for the 2020 Vitality Super League.

Nia Jones, Bethan Dyke and Georgia Rowe have all joined the Stars. Jones has 36 caps for Wales and helped lead the squad to gold at the Senior Netball Europe in 2013.

The 27-year-old defender said: “The move to Stars is a step out of my comfort zone, but it’s a challenge I’m looking forward to getting my teeth stuck into.

“Hopefully I can bring some energy, tenacity and leadership. I love the art of defending and I hope opposition players dread marking me because they know it will be a tough contest.”

Dyke has come from Celtic Dragons and has 43 caps for her national side and has been part of the 2014 and 2018 Commonwealth Games.

“I hope to bring composure, speed and experience to the squad. I am feeling extremely positive and excited about the season ahead.”

Rowe, 33, who plays shooter will be returning to the Stars squad after having a successful last season with them.

Stars head coach Melissa Bessell said: “Working alongside these three again is a dream for me. I know them all very well and what they are capable of.”

Severn Stars face Saracens Mavericks in the season opener in February at the Arena Birmingham.
