Newly-promoted Aston Villa announce new home ground ahead of Women's Super League campaign

Aston Villa Women have announced a two-year deal with Walsall Football Club to play their home league games at the Banks’ Stadium from the beginning of the 2020-21 season.

The news comes following the side’s promotion to the Women’s Super League after being crowned champions of the FA Women’s Championship last week.

The club’s director of women’s football Eni Aluko was thrilled with the move and optimistic of the positive impact this would have on the team and their fans as they enter the top tier.

She said: “Having secured promotion to the WSL we are delighted to have agreed a two-year agreement with Walsall to play all of our home matches at the Banks’s Stadium.

“At 11,000 Banks’s Stadium will be one of the largest capacity stadiums in the WSL league which is exciting and promising for the future of our club, the players, and the loyal support of our local fanbase.

“Walsall have hosted England women's national team games in the past, so we are excited to work alongside the club to host regular women's football fixtures in women's professional football.”

Gemma Davies’ newly promoted side will play at the 11,000 capacity stadium on weekends from the 2020-21 season onwards, with all kick-offs at 5:30pm.
