Gabby and Chris Adcock crash out of All England Championships

England's badminton duo Gabby and Chris Adcock are out of the All England Open mixed doubles having lost to Indonesia's Gloria Widjaja and Hafiz Faizal in Birmingham.

The husband-and-wife team were behind from the outset and were beaten 21-19 17-21 21-12 by the Indonesian duo.

Elsewhere there were double successes for Lauren Smith and Marcus Ellis who beat Japan's Wakana Nagahara and Takuro Hoki in straight sets in the mixed, then claimed victories in the women's and men's doubles respectively alongside Chloe Birch and Chris Langridge.

Smith and Birch eased into the second round of the women's doubles, with a straight sets (21-18 21-14) win against Germany's Linda Efler and Isabel Herttrich.

Jenny Moore and Victoria Williams ended their women's doubles campaign when they were forced to retire and there were also defeats for Scotland's Kirsty Gilmour in the women's singles and English duo of Ben Lane and Sean Vendy in the men's doubles.
