Government calls emergency talks with sporting authorities and broadcasters to discuss coronavirus contingency plans

The Government is to meet sports governing bodies and broadcasters to discuss the impact of coronavirus on sporting events.

The talks on Monday will consider the practicalities of staging sports events behind closed doors, should it be necessary.

The meeting has been called following the measures taken by Italian authorities who announced this week that all sporting events in Italy will take place without spectators until at least April 4.
