Boxing promoter Kellie Maloney has apologised for the way she treated female fighters in the past.

The 67-year-old, formerly known as Frank, has previously been criticised by former boxers Jane Couch and Cathy Brown because she 'did not want to see women's boxing'.

And now Maloney has finally come out on social media to hold her hands up and say sorry for her past actions.

She said: "We enter a total new Decade &world is changing  as well as I have been & I look back on my pass &mistakes I made I like 2Apologise 2so many people i upset &may have stifled there career mainly 2the female boxers I had no time 4in the 80 ,90 you were brave pioneers be4 your time."

Despite the apology, Couch and Brown were unimpressed with Maloney's comments and questioned her sincerity.

Speaking exclusively to NewsChain, Couch said: "You're not in the boxing world anymore, Frank. Time to face the real world, it's not the 90s anymore.

"All those things you said and did back then aren't going to wash these days."

Meanwhile, Brown directly replied to Maloney on Twitter, saying: "It's a token apology", before adding "I got my pro licence in ‘98 and have had many a public slanting [sic] match from him."
