Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy schedule revealed as Finals Day set for September 26

The Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy schedule has been released, with the opening day on August 29 and Finals Day on September 26.

The tournament, named after England’s 1973 World Cup-winning captain Baroness Heyhoe Flint, will replace the Kia Super League, which ran from 2016 to 2019.

The tournament has been named after legendary English cricketer Rachael Heyhoe Flint (S&G and Barratts/EMPICS Sport)

She captained the national team for 12 years in the 1960s and 70s and is widely considered to be one of the pioneers of the women’s game.

She died in 2017 after a short period of illness.

A venue for Finals Day has not yet been confirmed, but all four years of the KSL were staged in Hove.

Western Storm won last year’s KSL and will be looked at as the team to beat in the eight side competition.

"Rachael's determination to give women's cricket the platform it deserves is a legacy that must endure through these difficult times as we continue the journey to professionalise the women's game," said England and Wales chief executive Tom Harrison told BBC Sport.

"This summer's tournament will be another important step on that path."
