Papua New Guinea beat England for first time ever in rugby league with last minute try

Papua New Guinea made history with their first ever win over England in a rugby league test thanks to a last minute try from Shirley Joe.

England won the first of their games in New Guinea 24-10 last weekend, but their second clash did not go how coach Craig Richards would have hoped.

The hosts led the Lions 10-6 at half-time despite an early England try scored by Tara-Jane Stanley.

As the match entered the final stages, England's Carys Williams scored and Stanley converted to bring them level, but the home side refused to stop coming forward.

In the last play of the game, Joe dashed through a hole in the English defence to secure the victory 20-16 and ensure the series finishes level.
