Bristol Bears sign Welsh international Courtney Keight

Premier 15s club Bristol Bears have signed yet another Welsh international as Courtney Keight has joined them ahead of next season.

Welsh stars Kayleigh Powell, Alisha Butchers, Natalia John and Welsh 7s player Jasmine Joyce have already been announced as signings this summer.

Keight, who has two Welsh caps, said: “One of the main reasons behind my move to Bristol Bears was because of the amazing environment and team culture that has been created at the club.

“I’ve been told about how welcoming everyone involved with the club is and I’ve already experienced it through messages and calls from the staff as well as zoom calls with the players.

“There is a very professional standard set at Bristol and the club plays in a competitive competition in the form of the Premier 15s and that was part of the draw to the club. I know that playing at this level and having such talented teammates will help me develop as a player and as a person."

While head coach Kim Oliver added: “Courtney is a young, enthusiastic player with a tremendous work ethic whose talent is beginning to be recognised with international honours.

“She’ll put her body on the line for her teammates and has fantastic potential to flourish in our environment at Bristol Bears.

“Not only is she the type of player we’re looking to add to our group, but she is also the type of person we want at the club and I can’t wait for her to link up with the group at the start of pre-season.”

Six of the club’s Welsh internationals have also re-signed for the side.
