England rugby's Abby Dow on World Cup hopes and her engineering degree

England Rugby's Abby Dow just had enough time to get back to univeristy after taking part in the Six Nations clash with Scotland.

Dow studies mechanical engineering and is currently not a contracted player.

She scored a blinder of a try, beating four defenders, at Murrayfield but the girls were hit with travel issues on the way back to London meaning some of the team had to take a coach from Edinburgh.

"It was the worst-case scenario. We had an issue with trying to get home because we couldn't fit all of us on the flight so we had to drive home.

"I got home early Tuesday morning for me to go in for a 9am tutorial. I got home at about 6pm and went straight to bed."

She added that both of her lines of work are trying to attract more women.

"It's a hot topic, women in engineering and women in rugby.

"Both of them are desperately trying to get more women involved. It's something that should definitely be looked into because there's so much potential for both of them to get more people involved."

While she does focus on her degree she has said that the World Cup next year is her 'real focus'.

"It's a real focus this year I've taken in training, prepping up to the World Cup. Hopefully that's shown on the pitch so I've been able to get selection."

England v Ireland in the Six Nations kicks off tomorrow at 12.45pm.
