England rugby player Emily Scarratt has said that she doesn't regret her decision to chose to play in the Rugby World Cup rather than at the Tokyo Olympics.

The Women's Player of the Year has competed in both sevens and 15's rugby. She had to chose between the two versions of the sport as she could not play in both top tournaments.

She said she chose the World Cup as it was more important to her.

"I was picking between the Olympics and the World Cup and people will agree or disagree with my decision. To me, the World Cup is more important – I’ve been lucky enough to win one and come second twice. 

"The people closest to me could see and understand and were very positive of that decision but a lot of people won’t understand turning down the opportunity of going to an Olympics.

"Growing up, though, it was all about 15s, the Six Nations and the World Cup. The opportunity to play in another one, especially in somewhere as special as New Zealand, was not one I could turn down and I didn’t want to look back one day and not be happy with the choices I made in my career."

Scarratt is currently playing for England in the Six Nations and the team have not lost a game in the tournament so far.

England play Ireland this weekend. The game will kick off at 12.45pm and is available to watch on Sky Sports.
