Harlequins captain Rachael Burford on her aspirations to play for England again

Harlequins captain and Rugby World Cup winner Rachael Burford has said it would be 'amazing' to play for England again.

Burford was not given a contract in January from the Rugby Football Union as she had been out for the majority of last season through injury.

She has said she's concentrating on her club rugby and an international opportunity would be the icing on the cake.

"I focus on what’s going on now. If that happens and I put myself into a position to create that, then that will be amazing.

“But I understand the place England are in - 18 months out from a World Cup - their squad seems pretty solid and they’ve got some good depth.

"If I can knock on the door by playing some good rugby at Harlequins, then great, but I’m not chasing that at the moment,” she told The Telegraph.

The Premier 15s, the league Quins play in, gets back underway on March 21.
