Inaugural Women's Hong Kong Sevens rescheduled due to coronavirus

The inaugural Women's Hong Kong Sevens tournament has been rescheduled due to the coronavirus outbreak.

This year was set to be the first time a female tournament would run alongside the men's in the Hong Kong leg of the World Series.

It was originally scheduled to take place on April 3-5, but will now take place on October 16-18.

The rescheduling means that the women will have a three month break between competitions.

The last sevens tournament they played was the Sydney Sevens which took place on February 1-2, with their next competition set to be the Langford Sevens on May 2.

World Rugby released a statement that said: "The health and safety of our players, fans and everyone working on the event is always our highest priority."

The men's Singapore Sevens tournament has also been postponed from April 11-12 to October 11-12.
