27 min: France turn the ball over yet again and move the ball out of their own scrum. Pignot charges through the first line of English defence before the white shirts recover on the half-way line.

Referee comes back for a French penalty.

29 min: Better defence from England there as they stall the French attack and force a penalty of their own. Potentially a crucial moment as the Red Roses look for any way to stop this blue enslaught.

30 min: Nope, sloppy again from England. Riley offloads to Davies but it’s behind her and France are given the scrum inside their own half.

33 min: Better from England as they win a line-out with more assurance but then fail to build on it as Matthews spills the ball and France get yet another scrum.

35 min: Finally some pressure from England as Dow squeezes through and gets five metres from the line. Shaunagh Brown then looks to have got over the try line but referee Hollie Davidson says the ball was not put down.

She’s right. Mayans got her arm under the ball to stop that try. Brilliant defending.

37 min: England push through with Brown again and eventually get the penalty advantage which they choose to kick into touch.

It’s a dreadful line-out again from England and France are able to clear with Drouin. Her kick barely makes it out of the 22 though and England come forward once again. But a sloppy pass sees France break with pace…

39 min: TRY! Oh, that’s just brilliant! Banet runs three-quarters of the pitch to score! She charges through, plays a swift one-two and then bundles the ball over just before she is held up. Brilliant counter-attack!

40 min: Drouin kicks the conversion and France take a ten point lead!

HALF-TIME: France kick into touch from the England restart and take a dominant lead into the break. No more than they deserve. Has been one-way traffic thus far.
