Scotland rugby captain Rachel Malcolm on how her club prepared her for the Six Nations

Scotland's rugby captain Rachel Malcolm has said that her club Loughborough Lightning helped her prepare for international rugby.

Malcolm is currently playing in the Six Nations and her side will take on France at home this Saturday as they bid for their first win of the tournament.

Speaking about her Loughborough's contribution to her getting in for the internationals, she said: "The intensity of training at Lightning is international standard.

"The players we have within our squad bring that intensity and standard so in terms of preparation for international matches I don't think we could have a much better environment.

"The support we have in terms of staff, strength and conditioning, we are in the best possible shape we could be in for the Six Nations.

"Rhona Lloyd [a lightning and Scotland player] has been in great shape this season and also the usual suspects in terms of Jade Konkel, Sarah Bonar and Emma Wassel will be great to watch."

Scotland v France will kick off on Saturday at 7.45pm.
