British Swimming cancel Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic trials

British Swimming have cancelled the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic trials and have postponed the World Diving Series due to the coronavirus.

The British Swimming and Para-Swimming Championships were due to take place next month in London and would have been a chance for British athletes to try and gain qualification for the Games this summer.

But they have now been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, while the Diving World Series finale, which was scheduled to take place at the London Aquatics Centre later this month, has been postponed.

Olympic champion Adam Peaty said: "Very disappointed but I think we can all agree it was the right call to make and was inevitable.

"To the athletes who were preparing for this meet, keep your head up! Staying positive in these times is more important than ever."
