Coco Gauff becomes youngest winner on WTA Tour for 15 years with title in Linz

Teenage sensation Coco Gauff has won the first WTA title of her career with a brilliant victory over 2017 French Open winner Jelena Ostapenko.

Gauff, who stunned the world in reaching the fourth round of Wimbledon this year, won in Linz with a 6-3 1-6 6-2 victory over Ostapenko to conclude another break-out week for the young star.

Winning the tournament finishes a stunning turnaround for the 15-year-old, who actually lost in qualifying for the tournament, but through virtue of being a lucky loser, she has now become the youngest winner on the WTA tour since Nicole Vaidisova in Tashkent 2004.

The opening set was dominated by Gauff, as she opened up a 3-0 lead, and through her solid serve and effective use of the dropshot at key moments, she was able to keep the three game advantage.

Ostapenko had to save a break point in the opening game of the second set, but then through her powerful groundstrokes, she powered through the American and took the match into a decider.

But Gauff showed incredible maturity once more to regain her composure to win the final set, and in the process, beat the third current or former top 10 player she has faced this week.
