Johanna Konta only drops one game as she storms past Margarita Gasparyan at the US Open

Johanna Konta sent a huge message to her rivals at this year's US Open with a brilliant 6-1 6-0 second round win over Russian Margarita Gasparyan.

The match was moved to Thursday after play at Flushing Meadows was largely abandoned on Wednesday due to rain.

But the British number one was not affected in the slightest.

After losing the opening game, Konta then won an incredible 12 games on the spin in a superb display of clinical tennis.

She will now face Ekaterina Alexandrova or Zhang Shuai in the third round.

And the winner of that tie could face third seed Karolina Pliskova for a place in the quarter-finals.
