Johanna Konta saves two match points to beat Anastasia Potapova and reach Monterrey Open semi-finals

Britian's Johanna Konta produced a stunning comeback to beat Russia's Anastasia Potapova and book her place in the semi-finals at the Monterrey Open.

The British No 1 trailed 5-2 in the deciding set but saved match point on the 18-year-old Russian's serve at 5-4 before holding her own serve to level.

Konta, 28, lost the first set on a tie-break (6-8) but had re-grouped in the second, taking it 6-3 before heading into the decider where she denied world No 89 Potapova another tie-break to came through 6-7 (6-8) 6-3 7-6 (9-7).

This is a significant improvement for the World No 16 who has gone out in the first round of three tournaments she has played in 2020 and will now meet Czech world No 57 Marie Bouzkova as she bids for the final.
