Russian tennis player Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova pulls out of Qatar Open

Russian tennis player Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova has dropped out the Qatar Open due to an injury.

The 28 year-old suffered a knee problem at the Dubai Tennis Championships earlier this month during her last 16 match with Anett Kontaveit.

She was scheduled to play Yulia Putintseva from Kazakhstan in the round of 64 in Qatar.

Pavlyuchenkova has achieved a career-high doubles ranking of world No. 21 and also reached the quarterfinals at every Grand Slam singles event.

Speaking on Twitter about having to pull out of the Qatar event, she said: "Unfortunately, due to my right leg injury that I got in my last match in Dubai, I have to withdraw from Doha.

"I’ve done everything possible to play here, but need more time to heal. Sad to miss this amazing event :(."
