Simona Halep fought back from a set down to claim the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championship title after defeating Elena Ryabkina in the final.

The match was pushed to three sets after Halep, who won the Dubai title in 2015, came back into the final.

Rybakina took the first set 6-3 despite an impressive display by the Wimbledon champion.

The second set was dominated by Halep as the wimbledon champion found her stride. She took the set 6-3 and all eyes were on an exciting final set.

It didn't disappoint as both players were neck-in-neck throughout. Halep had an opportunity to take the title but Rybakina broke her serve to bring it 6-6 and so the title was decided on a tie break.

The tie-break was as close as the rest of the set with both players fighting tooth and nail for the win. However, Halep took the last set 7-6 (7-5) to win the title.

Halep had said earlier in the day how she really wanted to win and that's the way it turned out.
