Tennis star Eugenie Bouchard agrees to charity date with Instagram fan, but demands he brings toilet roll
Canadian tennis star Eugenie Bouchard has made a fan's dreams come true by agreeing to a date that will see £3,200 worth of meals go to healthcare workers in the United States.
The 26-year-old was hosting an Instagram Live session with sportscaster Allie LaForce after tweeting last month that 'quarantine would be a lot more fun with a boyfriend'.
Predictably, the heavens opened and Bouchard was inundated with offers from suitors around the world.
One particularly keen fan, 'Bob', was selected by La Force after he labelled Bouchard a 'smokeshow',.
Despite an initial offer of £400, LaForce asked Bob to dig deeper into his pockets to cough up the £2,410 to fund the charity meals.
But Bob then went one step further, promising an additional £800 if the 2014 Wimbledon runner-up agreed to speak in a British accent throughout their meeting.
The Canadian star couldn't refuse the generous offer but was shy about her acting skills adding: "Why are you doing this to me, Bob?
"You're guilting me," she joked, "so I feel I have to say yes because it's for charity, but I'm also highly uncomfortable with that!"
"I'm going to say yes but I have no skill whatsoever in imitating accents."
Bouchard had the final say, and a strange condition to seal their date.
She requested Bob brough a toilet roll along to the date - a collector's item in some places during thee current coronavirus outbreak.
The final sum settled on was either £1,300 for a date via FaceTime date or £3,200 for an in-person meeting once social-distancing regulations are lifted.
This is not the first time Bouchard has offered the pleasure of her company to a fan.
In 2017, after losing a Superbowl bet, Bouchard agreed to a date with John Goehrke, who was a student at the time.
He bet that the New England Patriots would fight back and win despite trailing Atlanta Falcons 21-0.
The pair eventually went on two dates but sadly it did not blosssom into anything further.
Bob, however, will be hoping to have more luck that Goehrke.
