Terri Harper slams ‘unprofessional’ Natasha Jonas after world title challenger arrives at Fight Camp late

WBC Super-Featherweight Champion Terri Harper has branded Natasha Jonas ‘unprofessional’ after the challenger turned up late to Fight Camp ahead of their huge clash this Friday.

Due to coronavirus protocols having to be strictly adhered to, each fighter competing at Matchroom’s headquarters in Essex was given a specific time to meet the COVID-19 requirements.

Harper won the WBC Super-Featherweight Title back in February (PA)

But Jonas was nowhere to be seen on Monday and ended up arriving on Tuesday afternoon, leaving Harper most unimpressed.

“No risk of bumping into her!," the champion joked when speaking to Sky Sports.

"I think it's unprofessional, personally. I don't know the reason behind it - hopefully it's a good one - but I think it's unprofessional.

"For me, she can do what she wants. But on [behalf of Matchroom and Sky Sports], the work that you have put in, making sure everything sticks to the schedule, it's thrown a spanner in the works."

However, the Denaby-born world champion feels that will have no bearing on the outcome of their pro bout in a few days’ time.

"For me, professional and amateur boxing are two completely different styles," she added.

"We're not going to do anything daft. We're not going to be looking for a stoppage.

"I'm going to use my engine that for some reason Natasha thinks could be a bad thing. I'm going to work Natasha all night and break her down."

Harper and Jonas will make history on Friday as it will be the first ever all-British women’s world title fight.

Harper is currently undefeated having won all ten of her professional contests.

Meanwhile, Jonas has one defeat in her ten pro bouts, with her loss coming against Viviane Obenauf back in August 2018, a fighter Harper beat at the end of last year.
