Two-time Grand Slam winner Simona Halep gives positive update on injury

Wimbledon Champion Simona Halep has confirmed she has recovered from her foot injury.

The world No 2 has been suffering with it since winning the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships in February.

It would have meant her missing out on both the Qatar Open and the Indian Wells Masters in March. However both tournaments were cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The 28 year-old and French Open winner shared the good news on social media.

She said: "The foot looks good, I have started to run already and I don’t have pain at all.

"I don’t play tennis yet but being able to do the training means a lot and gives me a big positive actually.

"I miss my team, I miss the players, I miss the tournaments, I miss everyone from the Tour."

Tennis across the world has been suspended until at least July 13.

"I can’t wait to travel again and I can’t wait to play tennis again," the Romanian added.
