WWE to make history with first ever women's title fight in Saudi Arabia as Bayley prepares to defend Smackdown belt

WWE have announced that the first ever women's title match in Saudi Arabia will take place at Super ShowDown later this month.

Bayley will defend her Smackdown Women's Championship against either Naomi or Carmella at the pay-per-view event in Riyadh on Thursday, February 27.

The challenger for Bayley's belt will be determined on next week's edition of Smackdown when Naomi and Carmella square off against each another in a bid to become the number one contender.

It will be the second edition of Super ShowDown in Saudi Arabia after the WWE travelled there in June 2019.

However, despite a full card of ten matches - headlined by the Undertaker v Goldberg - there was not a single female superstar featured on the show.

A number of major sporting events have been taken to Saudi over the past 12 months including the Saudi Cup horse racing event and the huge heavyweight boxing clash between Anthony Joshua and Andy Ruiz.

Snooker promoter Barry Hearn has also announced that there will be a Saudi Arabia Masters event taking place in October.
