US rapper Huey has died at the age of 31 after being involved in a shooting.

Fox 2 Now reported the incident occurred just before 11pm on Thursday evening in St Louis, Missouri.

The musician, best known for his 2006 hit ‘Pop, Lock and Drop it’, was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at hospital.

Authorities said another victim in the shooting arrived at Ferguson Police Department with a gunshot wound. He was taken to hospital and is expected to survive his injury.

No arrests have been made in connection to the shooting.

Huey, real name Lawrence Franks, is survived by his 13 year-old daughter.

The rapper, previously signed to Jive Records, recently revealed he was planning to release a new music video on Saturday.
