Listening To Motivational Music Improves Performance

A new study has found that listening to motivational music can help runners combat mental fatigue. The researchers used songs such as ‘Eye of the Tiger’ by Survivor, ‘Run This Town’ by Jay-Z and ‘Power’ by Kanye West. 18 fitness enthusiasts participated in the study. The participants completed a computer-based cognitive test that put them in a state of mental fatigue. They were then asked to complete high-intensity exercises. The runners were tested with and without motivational music. The researchers measured the heart rates and perceived exertion of the participants at multiple points. It was found that the interval running capacity was moderately greater with music compared to without music.
