Austin Mayor Blasts Texas Permitless Concealed Carry Law, Calls for Federal Gun Reform

Austin, Texas, joined a grim club of cities dealing with a rise in mass shootings as the pandemic restrictions loosen around the country. Mayor Steve Adler joined a call from the mayors of other U.S. cities for the federal government to step in with gun reform legislation. He also had words for the recent change to gun laws in Texas signed by Governor Greg Abbott, which would allow concealed carry of firearms without permits. "I think it's outrageous that at a time when gun violence is on the increase that our state legislature and governor would be moving toward a policy of trying to help make sure more people have guns," Adler said.
