Thousands of people from Donegal and Mayo counties gathered in Dublin Tuesday, June 15 to rally and demand the expansion of a redress scheme for homes and properties affected by the mica scandal. Thousands of homes in the counties are affected by defective concrete blocks due to mineral mica. The current mica redress scheme the government has offered forces homeowners to pay 10% of the cost to fix or rebuild their homes.
