Maren Mjelde struck a late winner as Chelsea came from behind to beat title rivals Manchester City and move top of the Women's Super League.

The Blues started well but failed to make their first-half pressure count as City keeper Ellie Roebuck produced a couple of fine saves.

And the hosts were made to pay just before the hour mark when Caroline Weir deftly tucked the ball away from a Keira Walsh cross.

Chelsea continued to create opportunities but could not find a way through Nick Cushing's dogged, determined defence.

But with 11 minutes remaining the home side finally found the breakthrough as Beth England nodded in after Roebuck initially saved superbly from Ji So-yun.

Emma Hayes' team then completed the turnaround just two minutes later when Mjelde eventually bundled in a scrappy, decisive winner.

The victory put Chelsea temporarily a point above Arsenal at the top of the WSL ahead of The Gunners' match with Reading, which later saw the champions run out 3-0 winners

City's second defeat of the league campaign means they are also a point behind Chelsea, but have played a game more.
