Football pundit and ex-England star Alex Scott has been partnered with Neil Jones as she swaps boots for heels on this year's Strictly Come Dancing.

The ex-Lioness and Arsenal star admitted she had nerves ahead of the new challenge saying: "I've played in World Cups and everything, this is the most nerve-wracking thing ever."

Scott, 34, will be dancing with Neil Jones as he finally gets a celebrity partner after three years as a background performer.

In last year's show Jones fell victim to the Strictly curse as wife Katya was photographed kissing her celebrity partner Seann Walsh outside a London pub. The pair quashed the swirling rumours saying they would not be ending their 11-year marriage, however they recently announced their split. 

The couple said the decision was mutual and they would "keep working and dancing together as well as exploring individual projects." 

If Scott's football footwork is anything to go by, she and Jones must stand a good chance of progressing through the competition.

Other notable sports stars in the line up include multiple Olympic champion James Cracknell, who has already conquered the high seas and the barren desert but can he glide across the glittering dance floor?

The next big question, of course, is what will the nickname be for our Lioness and her flame-haired partner, Scones perhaps? Let us know your thoughts and remember..
