Simone Biles claimed the 16th world championship gold of her illustrious career as she took the all-round title in Stuttgart.

The four-time Olympic gold medalist managed a scored of 58.999 to win by 2.1 marks ahead of China's Tang Xijing.

It is the second in seven days for the 22-year-old following her victory in the team event with USA earlier on this week.

She is now just one behind Vitaly Scherbo's incredible record of 23 world medals.

And Biles has four opportunities to overtake the Belarusian in the history books in a variety of apparatus finals over the weekend.
