St Andrew's Day Special: Five of the best Scottish sports women: Kim Little

As it is St Andrew's Day, we thought we'd count down five of the best Scottish sportswomen from north of Hadrian's Wall.

And we start with a well-known footballer who plies her trade in north London with Women's Super League champions Arsenal.

Kim Little

Gunners midfielder Little is the captain of the current WSL title-holders and one of the best and most creative attacking midfielders in the game.

After five years with the north London outfit between 2008 and 2013, when she scored 81 goals in 94 appearances, she moved abroad to Seattle Reign and a loan spell with Melbourne City.

But when she returned to Arsenal in 2017 the Scot picked up where she left off.

She has bagged 11 goals in 23 games and been an integral part of the side which claimed a third league title in May.

For the national team she has made 139 appearances and scored a prolific 59 goals.

Despite a disappointing World Cup exit in the group stage after throwing a three goal lead away to Argentina, Little excelled on the global stage as the Scots' standout player.

She is a true great of Scottish football and one who, at the age of 29, continues to add to her legacy.
