Three-time defending champion Mikaela Shiffrin won the women's slalom at the FIS Alpine Ski World Cup and moved to second place in the all-time rankings.

The US skier won her fourth consecutive slalom title at Killington, Vermont this weekend, the 62nd world Cup win of her career which draws her level with Austria's Annemarie Moser-Proell in the rankings.

The pair trail behind retired US skier Lindsey Vonn's 82 career wins.

Of her success, Shiffrin said: "The records keep going, don't they? We’re just doing the best we can every day. When it pays off and it shows in these kinds of records and making history like that, it is special for sure."

The 24-year-old was 2.28 seconds clear of her main rival, Slovakia's Petra Vlhova. In third was Sweden's Anna Swenn Larsson who was 2.73 seconds behind Shiffrin. The US skier dominated the course with no other skier coming within three seconds of her.

The win extended her lead in the overall standings to 340 points.
