Wales midfielder Megan Wynne has said the team are hoping to build on their victory over Belarus when they face Northern Ireland on Tuesday.

Rachel Rowe scored a late winner to give the Welsh a 1-0 victory in their previous qualifier last month.

But the Tottenham woman insists Northern Ireland will be a difficult proposition, which they have first-hand experience of following their 2-2 draw back in September, with Wales conceding an injury-time equaliser.

Wynne said: "Obviously the last time we played against Northern Ireland it didn't end well and although we had a point we ended up coming away thinking we could have done a bit better.

"It will be tough, we know what Northern Ireland are about, they have some good players as we found out in the last game. So we know it will be a really tough test, but I think we will be ready.

"I think we've got a lot to prove now to go out and get a result.

Wales are sitting in second position in their Euro qualifying group, while Northern Ireland are fourth having failed to win a match.

Norway are currently top of the group with five more points than the Welsh, but the Scandinavian side have played one more match.

"Getting to a major tournament in the main aim for us, but we have to improve game-on-game now and we can't get complacent, we have to take one thing a time. The main aim is qualification," she added.

The game is taking place in Belfast and will kick off at 7:45pm GMT.
